For Ben & Lauren
This is a page for my fabulous children Ben & Lauren:
It's been a long time, but I wanted to put this page up on my website, in case you are looking for me. I want you both to know how much I think of you, every single day. I'm really looking forward to meeting up with you, when the time is right for you.
We spent so many good times together in the short period that we were together and those magical memories never fade. You were probably too young to remember that much, but I hope you'll have some "feelings" that remind you of how special our relationship was whilst we were able to be together. There are far too many good memories to list here, but Ben I particularly remember the fun we had doing "messy hair" whilst you were in the bath, while the times when you as a very young child copied me mowing the lawn with your toy lawn mower, or were desperate to wear a tie so as to be like me at Auntie Kristina's wedding made me feel so full of pride that I could burst. There is no better feeling in life. Lauren, I can recall our nightly bedtime routine - with "Time for Bed PB Bear" every night, complete with hand movements. I can still recall every line of that story and cherish the way it helped you to sleep soundly. I also remember dancing around Virgin in Camberley to "Mambo number 5" and your giggling as we swayed through the aisles. I'm smiling now as I write this - it's impossible not to when I remember the good times we had together.
I've seen your "Project Parent" TV program and it was great to see how you've both grown up, and to see you laughing and being silly together. You're a credit to yourselves and should be very proud. I've recorded the program and watch it from time to time - it helps me to feel a little closer to you.
I need you to know that it was not my choice to be so far away from you and that if there were any other realistic option that meant we could see each other, I'd have taken it. I'm always here for you, when you feel you need, or would like to see me and I'm sure that at some stage we'll be able to build a great relationship again.
I love you both - completely and without reservation. Keep well, enjoy everything that's great about being children and remember I'll be here for you whenever you want me.
All my love, always.
Daddy.
